I have been carving wood utensils and
decorative
objects from hard maple and other
locally available species since 1977. Since
1994 I have been sharing my craft by
teaching spoonmaking at craft centers and in my workshop near Syracuse,
New York where I continue to offer private instruction.
I
carve
One-of-a-Kind Spoons and bowls that have sculptural qualities.
These are intended as decorative objects (a large spoon as a
dining table centerpiece, for example) or added to collections. In
addition to other woods, I work with European buckthorn, an
introduced, highly invasive, non-commercial species. It is a
strong wood with attractive yellow/orange/pink color and unusual
figure. Prices for my One-of-a-Kind Spoons start at $200.
My
Table Tools® wooden utensils, made from hard maple, include
three styles of salad server sets, a serving spoon and five
individual utensils. Multiple items of
Table Tools® can be ordered
as matching sets. The individual utensils and the serving spoon
are made either right or left-handed.
The Table Tools® are based on
the belief that our tools of daily living should be well designed and carefully made. I am gratified that these utensils can contribute to the celebratory aspects of cooking and dining.
Table Tools® are priced between $18 and $105.
I
occasionally create One-of-a-Kind Salad Servers.
Prices start at $125.
All
work is done solely by me.
