"Special Salad Sets"
For several years I've been carving some salad servers that I refer to as "special salad sets." The integration of shape and surface give these utensils a simple elegance. The sets are individually drawn and unique although the image of one set can be selected as a point of departure for a new one.
The special servers are made from highly figured, or otherwise unusual, matching pieces of locally available species. These sets have a spoon as the right hand utensil. They are finished with a nut oil/wax combination and care instructions are provided.
The special sets often find their way into the homes of people who have a particular appreciation for wood. Although the servers are made for use they can fulfill a decorative role as well, whether hung on a wall or placed on a cabinet shelf or table.
